Artist’s Biography
Changing, moving on and creating are activities and states of mind that have characterized my life. I was born in England, traveled in Spain, France and Portugal when I was a child, then to Israel, the USA and finally to Mexico where I had planned to stay for three months after completing my studies at the University of London. But those three months have now become thirty four years!
My early work as an artist followed the paths of the traditional techniques I had learned, but personal changes and several workshops in Mexico and the USA inspired me to be more experimental and inventive, so for the last few years I have enjoyed making papers, creating textures and integrating them into collages, using acrylics, pastels and pencil as finishing techniques. This year I have reversed the procedure and started with non-objective formats in acrylics and sometimes finishing with collaged papers, seeds, barks, buttons or anything else I choose from the numerous tins, drawers and boxes of items I have collected over the years.
I tend to use bright hues, perhaps because there is so much colour around me in Mexico; but sometimes the memory of the softer colours of the English countryside inspire me to use quieter tones.
My work has been exhibited in Cuernavaca, Mexico City and Baja California and I have participated in many Art Fairs in Mexico City. I have sold my paintings in Mexico, Holland, France and the UK.
